Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of 2025

Kyle decided it was about time that Nathan went to his first Aggie football game. The Aggies were playing Army so it worked out nice to bring along Nathan's friend Maddie and her dad Brad - a West Point grad. Those crazy guys made the drive down, watched the game, and then made the drive back with 2 tired kids. Nathan LOVED the game - way more than I expected. They left their seats for awhile to tour around Kyle Field. Here's a picture of him with the cannon showing us the double Gig 'em.

Just don't tell the teacher

Nathan got a note home last week that he was chosen to be the first Student of the Week in his class. The honor comes with the task of making an "All About Me" poster to bring to school on the Monday starting that week. We had a busy weekend planned, including a Friday night baseball game, a late Saturday night gymnastics meet, and two social outings on Sunday. On Friday, I said to the whole family - no matter how busy our weekend is, we cannot forget to do Nathan's poster this weekend! I awoke early Monday morning to realize that we had indeed forgotten to do Nathan's poster. I ran to the computer in a flash - printed out as many pictures of Nathan I could find and during breakfast rushed him to pick out what pictures he liked and caption the poster. I think it turned out pretty well considering:

Make your own caption

Seriously, I run out of things to say about the goofy stuff Nathan does around the house. I am constantly finding random things tied together with rope, stuck together with magnets, crushed in a vice, etc. Yesterday he turned the blinds into a storage system for markers and paints. I have nothing to say.

Meet #2: Rising Stars

Meet #2 was at WOGA in Frisco. It was a little tougher judging than last week. Vault 8.9, Bars 8.5, Beam 7.9, Floor 9.1.

Here is her bar routine from today. She chose to wait for a better beam and vault routine before we post the video. Hopefully we will get some good footage next week!

We did get a little local celebrity sighting with Valeri and Anna Liukin - coowners of WOGA and parents of Nastia. Alas, Nastia was nowhere to be found.

Fall Ball

Nathan's return to t-ball started this week. Since our friend and former head coach Ed moved to Virginia, Kyle is now the head coach. Monday's game was in a light rain and boy did the boys get dirty - gotta love those white pants in the orange dirt! The highlight of the game for us was when Nathan was playing first base. He got the ball when he was in the first base line and went to tag the runner. The runner ran smack into Nathan's nose and mouth. He was hurt, but he held on to the ball, got the out, and stayed in the game. Nathan maybe should have gotten the game ball for that one - but can't give the game ball to the head coach's son on the first game.
We had another game on Friday with much nicer weather conditions. The boys are really doing great - getting some hits and outs and having a good time!

Nathan's Little Me

Nathan's first "homework" assignment was to decorate his "Me" doll. His me was wearing:
* a baseball hat in his Nationals color decorated with a ball, bat and trophy
* a green tshirt with a picture of Sandy on it and a sign that says "I love my Golden Retriever" and surrounded by dog bones
* jeans with planets and space ships on them
* camo crocs
* a light saber in one hand
* Frenzy the Transformer in the other hand
Nathan drew the face on all by himself which may or may not explain why he looks like a cat. The teachers put the whole kindergarten class in the main hallway on a cute scene with grass, sky and decorated with the sun, soccer goals, basketball goals, jump ropes, etc. Nathan is next to his friend Emyley (with the yarn hair). So cute!

Meet #1: Fall Fiesta

Margaret had a great first meet as a level 4. She got a 9.0 on vault, 8.0 on bars, 9.0 on beam, and 9.2 on floor. Here is her new floor routine for this year:
Best of all she had a great time and enjoyed being there with her gym friends, despite the 7:30am starting time! The meet included the new larger Level 4 team (20 members) and the new Level 3 girls (16 members). Add our coaches and the Level 5 helpers and we had quite a presence at the meet.
